Bittorent site The Pirate Bay attempts to buy their own country!

I haven't posted much on here lately, partially because there wasn't much I thought was really cool enough to muster up the motivation to write about, but this qualifies as up there with one of the coolest things ever. Oh, and yes, it's real. thepiratebay.org is a bittorent tracker and file sharing community website not unlike isohunt and others.

Unlike the others though, thepiratebay has a political arm known as The Pirate Party and an army called the Armed Coalition Forces of the Internets or ACFI. They have recently announced their intention to buy the micronation of Sealand, a man-made installation off the coast of England. There was a fire on the island last summer and it has been offered for sale. As you have probably guessed, Sealand would be a file sharing haven with no copywrite laws, national independance, and high speed internet access for all (or at least the pirate bay's servers). You can read more about it here and make a donation to the cause. buysealand.com Donation grants citizenship and nobility once a micronation is purchased. Plan B is to buy another island nation if they can't raise the necessary funds in time.

They probably won't raise the money which I heard is in the area of $50 million, so I'd like to suggest to them that they take the country by force arriving in a square rigger pirate ship (obviously). If they do this, I will definitely join their army and whatever the fuck else they have.
